Welcome to Dorset Home Choice

Dorset Home Choice gives you more choice about where you want to live.

Welcome to Dorset Home Choice. The Borough of Poole and Bournemouth Borough Council in partnership with North Dorset District Council, Purbeck District Council, West Dorset District Council and Weymouth & Portland Borough Council have developed a Dorset Wide Home Choice CBL scheme.

Important changes for applicants that are already registered with the Borough of Poole, North Dorset District Council, Purbeck District Council, West Dorset District Council and Weymouth & Portland Borough Council.

These local authorities are changing their allocation policy from December 2014 and all applicants on the housing registers of these authorities are being asked to re-register by logging into their online account on this website from the 29th September 2014 to the 12th October 2014 and completing an online re-registration form.

Christchurch Borough Council and East Dorset District Council will also be joining Dorset Home Choice from October 13th 2014. If you are currently registered with Borough of Poole, North Dorset District Council, Purbeck District Council, West Dorset District Council or Weymouth & Portland Borough Council and wish to also join the Christchurch Borough Council and/or the East Dorset District Council housing register then please ensure that you add these to your application when you re-register.

Please note that applicants that are ONLY registered with Bournemouth Borough Council do not have to re-register.
Details of Allocation Policy Changes

Important information for NEW applicants to Borough of Poole, North Dorset District Council, Purbeck District Council, West Dorset District Council and Weymouth & Portland Borough Council. As mentioned above these authorities are asking existing applicants on their housing registers to re-register. These authorities will be prioritising the assessment of re-registration applications during this period - which will last from now until the middle of December 2014. New applicants that believe they are in need of emergency housing assistance should contact the local authority where they live for further information.

If you currently live in a home provided by a social landlord and are looking for a new home then mutual exchange using Exchange Locata might be for you.

New applicants can register with the scheme, by completing one common application form. Once registered applicants will be able to bid for properties, across all areas within the partnership where they are eligible.

Applicants will need to choose one authority as their managing local authority (if they wish to apply to more than one of the partners), this is usually the authority they either live in or wish to live in.

If this is your first visit to this website and you are not already on the Dorset Home Choice housing register you will need to register before you can bid for properties.

You may also want to look at the Scheme Guide to familiarise yourself with the bidding process. You may also wish to review the Dorset Home Choice Allocations Policy or the Bournemouth Borough Council Allocations Policy.

If you are an existing social housing tenant we have provided further information on fixed term tenancies and affordable rents.

You should be able to find all the information you need on this website, but if you have any questions about Home Choice please contact your relevant local authority.
